Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made important statements regarding the Teaching Profession Law and the planned National Education Academy in a television program he watched. Minister Tekin stated that the conditions to become a teacher will change.
Teaching Profession Law and National Education Academy
Minister Tekin made evaluations on the education agenda in the Başkent Kulisi program broadcast on Channel 7 television. Tekin touched on the issues of the Teaching Profession Law and the planned establishment of the National Education Academy, and emphasized that additional formation and accumulation will be provided to undergraduate education for teacher candidates. He also stated that the National Education Academy will serve not only teacher candidates but also current teachers.
Stating that there are countries that provide up to 600 hours of training in addition to those who have completed their undergraduate education, Minister Tekin explained that the National Education Academy will be a structure that will provide the training required by the teaching profession.
National Education Academy and Its Functioning
Minister Tekin stated that the academy will have an infrastructure that can provide training to other public institutions and private institutions. Emphasizing that there will be a close cooperation with educational faculties, Tekin stated that the educational processes will be carried out together with academicians. He added that the academy will cooperate with universities across Türkiye.
Minister Tekin also made statements about the interview process for 20 thousand teachers to be appointed. Emphasizing that the interview process should be objective and transparent, Tekin stated that they will not allow any kind of injustice. He stated that the process will be monitored electronically and necessary steps will be taken when necessary.
