Within the scope of the ‘Implementation of Planning and Budgeting Sensitive to Gender Equality in Turkey Project’ held in Eskişehir, ‘Planning and Budgeting Sensitive to Gender Equality Seminar’ was organized. This important event was held as part of a project supported by the European Union and the United Nations, in which the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the General Directorate on the Status of Women were the beneficiaries and the Presidency of Strategy and Budget was the co-beneficiary.
The seminar organized within the scope of the project aims to integrate the perspective of equality between men and women into policy-making and budgeting processes at national and local levels, in addition to the work carried out by the United Nations Women. The seminar organized for senior managers of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality aimed to raise awareness about budgeting sensitivity to gender equality.
The seminar focused on equality-sensitive budgeting concepts, principles and approaches; Implementation tools and international good practice examples were shared. Additionally, how Budgeting Responsible for Women-Men Equality can be implemented at the local level was discussed in detail.
Participants in the seminar included administrators from municipalities, partners of the project and representatives from UN Women Turkey office. Participants understood the role of municipalities in equality-sensitive planning and budgeting and exchanged ideas on how this issue could be addressed in the preparations of the Strategic Plan.
