Fire Cases Have Doubled in Manisa
Fire incidents in Manisa, which were 850 in June last year, increased to 1,739 this year. 1,164 of these cases were recorded as grass and stubble fires, 57 as forest fires, and 518 as fires in homes and workplaces.
Fire Fighting Works
Manisa Metropolitan Municipality fire brigade responded to the fire in Salihli district with 14 water tankers, 6 tankers, 2 excavators, fuel tankers and 44 personnel. The fire was taken under control as a result of coordinated efforts with the General Directorate of Forestry, Provincial Gendarmerie Command and other institutions.
Evaluation of Authorities
The Governor of Manisa, the Mayor of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, the Mayor of Salihli and the district governor inspected the region and expressed their wishes for a speedy recovery to the citizens. Mayor Zeyrek drew attention to the fires and emphasized that citizens should be conscious.
Fire Prevention and Fighting Strategy
Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek stated that fires have increased due to climate change and drought. He stated that as the municipality, they are ready 24/7 and mobilize all their resources to fight fires. He emphasized that the public also needs to be aware.
