Hayri İnce, an 86-year-old retired teacher living in Mersin, draws attention with his interest in technology. Living in the Resul Neighborhood of the Toroslar district, İnce continues his hobby by producing industrial equipment in the workshop he set up at his home.
Having worked as a teacher in his education life, İnce continued to produce after his retirement and created a workshop in his home. He produces many industrial equipment such as welding, lathe, press, packaging, packing, tire dismantling, iron and cardboard cutting machines with his own means.
Spending his working hours in his workshop, İnce also managed to build an elevator outside his house using a rail system. Providing equipment support to vocational high schools, İnce states that he has produced approximately 100 different pieces of equipment to date.
Stating that he has been interested in technology since childhood, İnce continued as follows:
“The first tool I needed was a welding machine. I managed to make the welding machine using oil cans. Then I needed a lathe machine and I managed to make it. Among the machines I produced are tire casting molds, wheel manufacturing and rim manufacturing. During this process, I took care to produce equipment that could be an example for young people.”
“I want to donate my machines to the state”
Stating that his dream has always been to make a car, İnce said, “I have carried out studies for employment purposes and I have made sure that the equipment I produced would be useful to young people. Now, I want to donate the machines I produce to the state. I have not applied for a patent. Lastly, I worked on an earthquake device but could not start mass production. I plan to give this device as a gift to high school students.”
