Search and rescue efforts continue for 35 people missing in a landslide on Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island. The death toll from the landslide has risen to 23. Search and Rescue Office official Edy Prakoso made statements about the details of the landslide.
A landslide that occurred in an “illegal” gold mine in the Bone Bolango region of Sulawesi Island on July 8 caused great sadness in the region. Dozens of people were trapped underground in the landslide that occurred as a result of the heavy rain. More than 200 people, including police and military personnel, were assigned to the region for search and rescue efforts.
Prakoso stated that the bodies of 23 people have been found so far in the meticulous efforts to find the missing people. Search and rescue teams continue to work day and night to find the other 12 missing people.
