Watson emphasized that Israel’s security is “solid and unshakable” and said, “Israel has the right to defend itself against serious threats.” She stated that the US continues to seek “diplomatic solutions” to reduce tensions in the region and stop attacks.
Israel’s Attack on Huhreyk Neighborhood
Israeli forces caused extensive destruction in an airstrike on August 30 in the Huhreyk neighborhood, where Hezbollah’s Shura Council is located in southern Beirut. As a result of the attack, two children and one woman lost their lives and 74 people were injured.
Watson expressed his sorrow for the human losses following the attack and called on the parties to exercise common sense. He emphasized that all parties must act responsibly to reduce the tension that has increased in the region following the incident and to prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
