US Concerns Over Situation in Gaza
In light of a leaked document by the US National Public Radio (NPR), the US administration is reported to have expressed concern about the Israeli government’s “mass evacuation orders”, which envisage the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Gaza. The document states that the US Embassy in Israel forwarded to Secretary of State Antony Blinken an assessment note prepared by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on the negative impact of Israel’s evacuation orders on the Palestinian population.
In the document, The Israeli armyMitigation measures were discussed, such as the need to cancel expired evacuation orders to ensure greater freedom of movement, the need to halt operations at least 48 hours after evacuation orders are issued to allow for the safe movement of the population, and the need to protect humanitarian aid areas and ensure continued accessibility.
The report drew attention to Israel’s constant displacement of Palestinians, and emphasized that habitable and safe areas in Gaza were gradually decreasing. According to the document in question, it was noted that repeated and often rushed evacuation orders caused harm to civilians, and that the Israeli army issued these evacuation orders without sufficient warning and began operations without giving the necessary time.
It is recalled that, according to United Nations (UN) data, more than 88% of Gaza is currently under evacuation orders, and the document includes information that the Israeli army has issued at least 20 evacuation orders in Gaza since July 22 alone. It also includes statements from Gazan civilians that they were forced to flee under dangerous conditions after Israeli airstrikes began a few hours after the evacuation order was issued.
