Education Specialist Nazik Kösegil emphasized the important issues that students should pay attention to during the university placement process. In particular, he stated that the success scores of students who do not enroll will decrease in the following year and it may be difficult for them to enter the departments they target. Kösegil said, “If the student is not placed and registered, his success score will decrease in the next year and it will be difficult to enter his target place. I advise the students who have been placed to enroll in the school and prepare for the exam again after attending the school for a year. In this way, both their OBP (Secondary Education Success Score) will not be broken and they will be able to transfer to their target department without wasting too much time, as the courses they took in the first year will be considered exempt in the new department they are placed in.”

Those who will choose supplements should be careful

Kösegil stated that not registering could be a big risk and a waste of time and said, “If the student has settled somewhere and is waiting for additional quotas, he/she needs to set two types of goals here. Additional quotas are not known at the moment, but when they are determined, there is a rule to choose departments below your own score. For this reason, the student should take the additional quota guide and choose the departments that are below his/her own score and that he/she is happy to study. According to the results, if he/she is accepted to the university, he/she must enroll and continue. However, if there are departments that he does not target, he should prepare for the university for one more year with an additional quota and strive for his goal. The student survived the year and saw what he had to do to prepare for an exam. “I recommend that students prepare for university with proper planning,” he said.

They Should Not Decrease Their Motivation

Stating that the motivation of graduating students may be low, Kösegil said, “The student also receives serious pressure from the environment. Here, the student should get away from the idea that the biggest problem of failing to graduate is losing a year. One year really doesn’t matter in a person’s life. Seeing a year as an experience instead of negative motivation should start the process with the understanding that I have survived this experience and I am aware of what I did right and what I did wrong, so by doing the right things, I can successfully pass the university exam in another year with a better preparation. In this sense, if he presents a more self-confident profile towards those around him and believes that he will succeed, he will also reduce the pressure around him. Instead of wondering if I would fail again, I had my rights and wrongs. “If the student proceeds with the understanding that I can spend another 12 months correcting my mistakes, the success rate of graduate students is also high,” he said.

They Can Achieve Success with Proper Preparation

Kösegil said, “When we look at the students who continue to school and the students who graduate and prepare, we can see that with proper preparation, graduates are as successful as the students who continue to school. Therefore, in this period, their way of thinking is to see failure as experience rather than failure, which will help the person recover. This process is not an easy time for families, and the preparation process for university can be quite challenging. However, instead of thinking about the loss of a year, they should not forget that they should trust their children, motivate them and prepare an environment that will enable them to achieve success.”
