A forest fire broke out on the Uludağ University campus at around 14:30 yesterday, causing major damage. Following the incident, more than 40 land vehicles, 4 helicopters and 2 aircraft, along with over a thousand personnel, were mobilized to bring the fire under control.

After the fire was brought under control, cooling efforts are ongoing and the damage caused by the fire has begun to become clear. As a result of the fire, 766 acres of forested land on the campus was damaged. In addition, 131 acres of mowed land was completely lost to the fire.

The 30 beehives at the Beekeeping Development and Application Center (AGAM) were also reduced to ashes due to the fire. In the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, 10 tons of wheat, 20 tons of dry alfalfa, 30 tons of hay and 1 tractor were burned, while animal shelters were also damaged. Fortunately, all the animals on the farm were saved.

In the Faculty of Agriculture, 80 acres of wheat field and 2 thousand trees consisting of many types of trees such as apple, pear, quince, peach, persimmon, hazelnut, olive were burned to ashes. In addition, the roof of the student education application building in the garden facilities was damaged. In the Mennan Pasinli Vocational School (Equestrian), 2 paddock areas and a thousand bales of alfalfa were also damaged by the fire.
