The accident occurred at noon on the Akyazı crossing of the TEM Highway. The truck with the license plate 21 AFA 919, loaded with live cattle and driven by Umut Oğurlu in the direction of Istanbul, went out of control of its driver.
The truck remained hanging on the bridge over the road, and 6 of the 27 cattle on its trailer fell off the bridge and lost their lives.
Police and medical teams were dispatched to the area upon notification. The driver of the truck that remained upright on the bridge was taken to the hospital after the medical team’s first aid. While work has begun to remove the truck from the bridge, an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
