A saddening event occurred for two Syrian siblings and their mother who drowned in the Kazan Pond when they entered to cool off in the Menteşe district of Muğla. When the siblings, 8-year-old Abdülgani Zaza and 7-year-old Muhammet Nurettin Zaza, started to have difficulty in the surface of the water while swimming, their mother Vilede Zaza (35) entered the pond to save her children. Unfortunately, the mother and her two children drowned and lost their lives.
Following the incident, upon notification to the Muğla 112 Emergency Call Center, 112 ambulance, gendarmerie and the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Underwater Diving Team were dispatched to the area. The bodies of the mother and her children, which were removed from the pond by the Underwater Diving Team, were sent to the forensic medicine institution after the prosecutor’s office examination.
