The asphalt renewal work on the metrobus road on the Golden Horn Bridge section of the D-100 highway, which started last night by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department, caused traffic congestion in the region.
Due to the work on the metrobus road on the bridge, two lanes on the middle bridge were closed to traffic. For this reason, bridge traffic is provided from the two lanes on the side road. Drivers are directed to alternative routes and directions are being made so that they are not affected by the density.
The traffic density experienced on the D-100 highway in the direction of Kadıköy starts between Zeytinburnu and Cevizlibağ. While it is difficult to proceed on the road between Cevizlibağ, Edirnekapı and the Golden Horn Bridge, the traffic flow becomes a little easier after passing the Golden Horn Bridge.
Due to the work, the roads leading from the bridge to Balat and the side roads connecting to the bridge from Edirnekapı are experiencing congestion.
Some citizens have expressed on social media that such works, which increase the traffic density on the Golden Horn Bridge even on normal days, should be carried out at night.
The work period will continue until July 8.
In the announcement made by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, it was stated that the middle bridge in the Golden Horn will be closed to traffic in the Kadıköy direction at 23:00 on July 3 as part of the asphalt renewal work to be carried out on the metrobus road. The work, which will be carried out due to the road getting old and affecting driving comfort, is planned to be completed by 05:00 on July 8. It was announced that during the work, the middle bridge of the Golden Horn on the D -100 highway will be closed to traffic in the Kadıköy direction and traffic circulation will be provided from the side road.
