Second Part of the “West’s Weapons Support to Israel” News
The AA correspondent gave space to the views of Irish Journalist and Author David Cronin, an expert on the subject in Brussels, the capital of the EU. Referring to the precautionary measures taken by the ICJ, Cronin stated that these decisions clearly show the obligation of states worldwide to ‘not assist’ in acts of genocide against Israel. He emphasized that EU officials and member states are aware of this situation.
Cronin said the ICJ decision could lead to more challenging cases of arms cooperation between Europe and Israel, and that it had created unease in some countries. Cronin emphasized that Europe’s arms cooperation with Israel was continuing, and that the EU had not yet decided to ban arms trade with Israel.
Cronin, who drew attention to the fact that EU countries import weapons from Israel in addition to arms transfers to Israel, stated that there are double standards. He claimed that arms cooperation with Israel could make the EU an accomplice to the genocide in Gaza.
Cronin said that Germany is a customer of Israel’s arms industry while also transferring weapons to Israel, and that this situation necessitates a two-way arms embargo. Stating that England and France also continue to trade arms with Israel, Cronin stressed that activists must take action against this situation.
Cronin explained that an Israeli arms company in Belgium was participating in fairs as a Belgian company, and other countries were also exhibiting Israeli-made components. Cronin argued that trade between Israel and the EU should be completely banned, and that the only way to achieve this goal was to organize mass protests.
