The 99th Session of the 28th Term Second Legislative Year of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) took place today. During the meetings, AK Party Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek brought up the ambitious works of CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır in Mersin Mezitli.
Criticism from Osman Gökçek to CHP’s Başarır
Gökçek stated that Başarır’s private secretary was looking into the profiteering business in Mezitli and said, “Mr. Ali Mahir Başarır is very interested in the Mezitli issue these days, he is sending his own advisor there as his private secretary; I think he needs to give an answer to these issues first since he is looking into all the profiteering business there.”
Criticisms of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality
Gökçek criticized the events in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and said, “Come and give an answer to Özgür Karabat’s question about the same company winning 15 tenders from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. You said ‘Free’ for water in the elections, you increased the water price; you said ‘Free’ for transportation, you increased the transportation price. You said ‘All students will ride the buses for free’ to students, you increased the price. On top of that, you made the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality 180 billion TL in debt.”
CHP’s Başarır’s Reaction and Gökçek’s Response
Upon Başarır’s insulting words, TBMM Deputy Speaker Bekir Bozdağ issued a warning. Gökçek took the floor again and responded by saying, “In my opinion, if you were an agha, you would sell the village, if you were a farmhand, you would sleep in the shade, if you were a shepherd, wolves would take your flock, if you were a watchman, thieves would celebrate. You are such a man.”
