Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who is on an official visit to China, met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Guangzhou. Wang called for healthy and stable development of relations between Russia and Ukraine, Xinhua reported.
In a press release issued after the meeting, Wang emphasized that China and Ukraine are friendly countries and that their strategic partnership dates back many years. He stated that the two countries have been steadily advancing their cooperation.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba also stated that they are ready for negotiations with Russia, and that the negotiations should aim for an independent, just and lasting peace. Kuleba expressed satisfaction with China’s positive and constructive role in the international peace process.
Kuleba stressed that Ukraine supports China’s “one China” policy and expressed hope for the development of economic, trade and agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
Kuleba’s visit to China, his first official visit since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, is expected to last until Friday.
