Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced on its official social media account that 37 Chinese military aircraft were detected around Taiwan Island. The statement said that 36 of these aircraft crossed the “median line” in the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s “Air Defense Identification Zone.”
Separation and Sovereignty Dispute Continues
Despite China’s claims of sovereignty, Taiwan has been governed de facto independently since 1949. The separation and sovereignty dispute between mainland China and Taiwan still continues.
Beijing has been increasing military pressure on Taiwan in recent years, arguing that the island should be reunited with the mainland. In this context, the Chinese administration does not rule out the use of force if necessary.
