Extraordinary Meeting of the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey
The General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), which has entered recess until October 1, will convene on Thursday, August 15, upon the call for an extraordinary meeting by TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. This important session will be held with the aim of providing strong support to the Palestinian people and their cause and contributing to the voice of the oppressed Palestinian people being heard on the international platform.
At the General Assembly session, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will give a speech. During his visit to the Parliament, Abbas will first hold a bilateral meeting with TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş. Following the bilateral meeting, Abbas and Kurtulmuş will meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Parliament.
The General Assembly will be officially opened by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Kurtulmuş at 15:00. Following Kurtulmuş’s opening speech, the floor will be given to the President of the State of Palestine Abbas. Abbas will explain to the MPs in detail the inhumane attacks that Israel has been carrying out on the Palestinian territories, especially Gaza. This speech will be translated instantly into English, Turkish and French.
President Erdoğan will also support Abbas by listening to his speech in the General Assembly Hall. Following the special meeting, President Erdoğan, Palestinian President Abbas and Turkish Grand National Assembly Speaker Kurtulmuş will visit the Palestine-themed photo exhibition held in the Hall of Honor.
Later, TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş will meet with Palestinian President Abbas and his delegation in the Marble Hall in the Parliament and exchange views.
