A group of students and academics, armed with Palestinian and Turkish flags, came together in front of the Faculty of Letters to draw attention to the human tragedy in Gaza. The participants, who walked to the central dining hall building while chanting slogans with flags in their hands, expressed their feelings with a choreography they created under the theme of “Gaza.”

In his statement, Yücel İslam, a lecturer at Van YYU Vocational School, emphasized that they will not remain silent against the genocide carried out by Israel in Palestine. Stating that the occupying Israel oppresses the Palestinian people regardless of whether they are babies, women or the elderly, Islam said, “There are children and women struggling to survive under bombs in Gaza. Innocent people who cannot be killed by bombs are left to die of hunger, thirst and lack of medicine. While there is oppression in many parts of the world, we cannot remain silent.”

Stating that they organized events as a university to raise their voices against oppression, Islam said, “We will continue to stand against the oppressor and on the side of the oppressed. We will stand against the oppression everywhere from Gaza to Jerusalem, from East Turkestan to Kashmir.”
