The fire, which broke out in a grassy area in the Değirmenköy Neighborhood of Silivri, broke out today at around 11:30 am Although the cause of the fire is not yet known, many fire departments and teams from the Forestry Department were quickly dispatched to the area upon notification by residents.
Due to the wind, the fire quickly spread to the forest area and began to grow. While the teams made intensive efforts to bring the fire under control, they also intervened from the air with a fire extinguishing helicopter.
Arriving at the scene in a short time, the teams were able to control the flames before they could grow. Silivri Municipality Search and Rescue Teams (SAK) added water to the fire department using water tanks from the municipality’s technical services.
As a result of the successful cooling efforts of the fire crews, it was determined that approximately 100 acres of land was damaged in the fire.
