The Firing Test of the Black Atmaca Cruise Missile was Successfully Conducted
Roket Sanayii ve Ticaret A.Ş. The Black Atmaca cruise missile developed by (ROKETSAN) hit its target accurately in the firing test activity and made its longest flight. Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün made evaluations about the test carried out. Görgün wished that Kara Atmaca would be beneficial for our country and said, “Among the main targets of Kara Atmaca are strategic land targets, air defense system batteries and fixed or removable surface-to-surface missile systems.”
Kara Atmaca is equipped with a warhead weighing approximately 250 kilograms and an imaging infrared (IIR) seeker head. Thanks to these features, it is designed to neutralize targets determined with centimeter precision by performing aggressive maneuvers. Görgün said, “I am sure that Kara Atmaca will be one step ahead of its counterparts in the world with its distinctive technical and tactical features.” In the firing test carried out recently, Black Atmaca successfully flew with its KTJ3700 engine, hitting its target accurately and making its longest flight to date. Congratulating ROKETSAN and Kale R&D employees who worked within the scope of the project, Görgün said, “May it be beneficial to our country and our beloved nation.”
Planned to be put into service in 2026
Additionally, the Presidency of Defense Industries stated that the Kara Atmaca cruise missile is expected to be put into service in 2026.
What is Black Sparrowhawk?
Developed by ROKETSAN, the Black Atmaca Cruise Missile was designed to provide long-range, precise and jam-resistant firepower to the Turkish Land Forces Command, with the contract signed on August 18, 2021. The missile has a warhead weighing 250 kg and an imaging infrared (IIR) seeker head, and is capable of neutralizing targets with high accuracy even in complex terrain conditions.
