Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the international community had failed to respond to the situation in Gaza. Lavrov described the October 7 attacks as “collective punishment by Israel in Gaza” and stressed that they violated international humanitarian law.

Lavrov said that UN Security Council resolutions were not implemented and that the UN Secretary General’s office was applying double standards. Regarding the tension in the Middle East, Lavrov said that Iran did not want to increase tensions, but Israel wanted this, and that the West should make efforts to reduce tensions.

Lavrov also touched on the Ukraine issue, stating that if the Minsk Agreement is implemented, Ukraine will preserve its 1991 borders. He stated that peace was on the verge of being achieved in the negotiations held in Istanbul in 2022, but they left the table upon Boris Johnson’s instructions.
