The statement stated that the news in the question was “unfounded” and emphasized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s determination to continue the Israeli occupation of the Egyptian border of Gaza, known as the “Philadelphia Corridor”.
It was stated that Netanyahu conveyed to the Israeli delegation participating in the prisoner exchange and ceasefire negotiations that the occupation of the “Philadelphia Corridor” would not be abandoned. According to a report in Reuters today, Israeli and Egyptian negotiating teams are holding talks on an electronic surveillance system that could allow Israel to withdraw its troops from the “Philadelphia Corridor” in the event of a ceasefire.
