The allegation that a foreign national harassed a 5-year-old child in the Melikgazi district of Kayseri caused a huge outrage. Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, who went to the region after the incident, emphasized that citizens should remain calm and made the following statements:
“Neither Our Police nor Anyone Else Should Get Hurt”
Governor Çiçek made an effort to calm the crowd that gathered in the Danişmentgazi Neighborhood after the incident was heard. Addressing the citizens, Governor Çiçek said the following:
“I understand your anger very well. I know that you are really angry and that this incident was a despicable act. I promise you as your governor. Such an incident will never happen again in Danişmentgazi Neighborhood. I don’t want any of our police officers or citizens to get hurt. We will do whatever is necessary. But let’s disperse now. I don’t want any of our police officers or anyone else to get hurt. Please, everyone go home. The state will do what is necessary to the end.”
