Artvin Governor Cengiz Ünsal received information about the cracks and superficial deformations that occurred in the last 200 meters of the 3 thousand 921 meters long T14 Tunnel. The increasing number of partial collapses in the tunnel caused concern.
Governor Ünsal made a statement after the inspections carried out in the T14 Tunnel, saying, “Our technical teams made detailed inspections on the cracks and deformations previously detected in the tunnel. In line with the decision we made, security measures were taken considering that the deformations in the tunnel could pose a risk. Construction of a 2.4-kilometer alternative road starting from the tunnel entrance was started and this road was completed. Due to the collapse, the tunnel was closed to traffic and vehicles were directed to the alternative service road.”
Governor Ünsal stated that technical teams are working to solve the problem as soon as possible and are following the process closely. “Our teams are making the necessary interventions, prioritizing the safety of life and property. We will solve the problem by working in coordination with the relevant institutions,” he said.
