“Children of Ahlulbayt, Platform for Those Murdered in Gaza” Protest
Members of Alevi associations gathered in front of the Israeli ambassador’s residence in Ankara to protest the massacres carried out by Israel in Gaza.
Holding Turkish flags and wearing keffiyehs representing Palestinians around their necks, the group held a press conference to draw attention to the mass killings carried out by Israel in Gaza.
In his speech, Hüseyin Gazi Culture and Art Foundation President Ali Timurtaş Özmen emphasized the massacres committed by Israel in Gaza and stated that it was committing war crimes within the international framework.
- Israel has martyred over 37 thousand Palestinians in Gaza,
- It destroyed tens of thousands of homes, educational institutions, mosques and churches,
- 86 thousand 237 people were injured,
- 10 thousand people are missing,
- More than 17,000 children are left without parents or at risk of death due to malnutrition,
- 499 healthcare workers, 70 civil defense personnel and 152 members of the press were martyred
Özmen also stated that Israel used 79 thousand tons of explosives in its attacks on Gaza.
During the protest, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “We will speak the truth inside and outside, we will defend the truth, we will stand on the side of the innocent and against the murderers.” His words were referred to.
Özmen stated that the group members dispersed after the protest.
