Incident in Saros Gulf of Edirne
A holidaymaker who fell asleep on the seabed on the shore of the Yayla village on the Gulf of Saros was rescued after being found still asleep about 2 miles offshore following a search launched following the alert of his relatives.
A holidaymaker who came to the Yayla village beach for a holiday fell asleep on the sea bed and was dragged out to the sea by the strong wind and waves. When his relatives noticed the situation on the beach, they asked for help from the facility operator.
Facility operator Mustafa Altunhan and his relatives set out to sea by boat and reached the holidaymaker sleeping on the sea bed approximately 2 miles offshore. The man woke up when his relatives called out and he was rescued.
Mustafa Altunhan stated that they experienced a similar incident last year and rescued a person who was dragged by the sea bed approximately 4 miles from the shore. Altunhan emphasized that caution should be exercised at sea on windy and wavy days.

The moment of rescue was recorded with a mobile phone camera. The footage clearly shows the process of the holidaymaker sleeping on the seabed being dragged to the open sea and being rescued.
Call for Attention to Similar Situations
Altunhan, who drew attention to the importance of not sleeping in the sea, especially in windy and wavy weather, stated that holidaymakers should prioritize safety at sea.
