Şaziye Karagöz, who applied to Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital with symptoms of walking difficulty, insomnia, pain and shortness of breath, regained her health with bypass and heart valve surgery performed by Dr. Burak Tamtekin and Dr. Gülsen Güler Ersoy of Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery.
Dr. Tamtekin stated that they have performed approximately 200 open heart surgeries in Kastamonu in the last 3 years. He also emphasized that they have performed successful operations on patients with heart valve problems.
Stating that calcification and narrowing were detected in Şaziye Karagöz’s aorta, Dr. Tamtekin said, “We successfully attached a live heart valve obtained from cattle to our patient, to whom we performed bypass surgery on both arteries. Thanks to such surgeries, our patients can regain their health.”
Dr. Tamtekin stated that live heart valves obtained from cattle shorten the surgery time and help patients recover early. He added that such valves easily adapt to the body.
Şaziye Karagöz explained the health problems she had before the surgery and said, “Before the surgery, I couldn’t walk, my heart was pounding, my back was hurting a lot and I was short of breath. I couldn’t sleep. Now , thank God, I’m fine, I’m walking, I eat and drink well, I didn’t notice anything wrong with my heart valve after the surgery and I’m 80 years old. “got younger after the surgery.”
