Retired FBI Agent Photo Review
Retired FBI agent Harrigan, who served 22 years with the FBI, made important assessments in an interview with the New York Times about the image of the bullet that injured former US President Trump in the right ear, taken by experienced photojournalist Moug Mills.
Harrigan, who examined the photographs taken by Mills, said: “There is clearly a displacement in the air due to the bullet. The angle would have been a little lower for the bullet to pass through the ear, but it would be possible if the attacker had fired multiple shots. The bullet is moving quickly in the photograph.”
Another important factor is the speed at which the bullet comes out of the gun, Harrigan said. “The AR-15 type semi-automatic weapon that the attacker usually uses 223 caliber or 5.56 mm bullets. These bullets travel at a speed of 3,200 feet per second,” he said.
“When we consider all these factors, we can clearly see how the bullet travels through the air in the photograph,” Harrigan said. Harrigan noted that the photograph taken by Mills captured the bullet’s movement momentarily, emphasizing that such a moment is rarely seen.
Attempted Assassination of Trump
Former US President Trump, who was running for president from the Republican Party, was attacked with a gun while addressing his supporters from a podium during a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump, who was injured in his right ear, was reported to be in good health. One person died and two people were injured in the attack.
The US Secret Service announced that the attacker, who fired multiple shots from outside the rally area towards the podium, had been neutralized. After investigating the attack, which the FBI considered an assassination attempt, it was determined that the attacker was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
