Statement from the Israeli Army about the Missile Operation from Yemen

İsrail Ordusu'ndan Yemen'den Gelen Füze Operasyonu Hakkında Açıklama

According to the Times of Israel, the Israeli army’s air force shared with the public the preliminary investigation report regarding the missile attack against Israel from Yemen. According to the report, a missile launched from the northwest of Yemen in the morning was detected, and Israel’s long-range air defense systems fired interceptor missiles directed at the target.

At least one interceptor missile launched by Israeli air defense systems hit a missile launched by the Houthis from Yemen, but failed to completely destroy the target. The Houthis’ missile exploded in the air and shattered into pieces, but its fall could not be controlled. The remnants of the missile launched from Yemen fell into a forest area 8-10 kilometers away from Ben Gurion Airport and caused a fire there.

Additionally, shrapnel falling from interceptor missiles hit a train station in Modin, an Israeli settlement occupied from Palestinian territory in the occupied West Bank, causing serious damage there.

The Israeli army stated that the missile fired from Yemen “traveled in a linear route” and emphasized that, contrary to the statements of the Houthis, this missile was not “hypersonic”. Yahya Seri, Military Spokesperson of the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, claimed in his statement today that they carried out an effective military operation against Israel with a new hypersonic ballistic missile.

The Israeli Army Spokesperson reported that the ballistic missile launched from Yemen fell in an open field in the central region of the country and attack alarms went off at many points during this process. While there were no injuries or loss of life during the operation, damage occurred in some areas.

On the other hand, the Houthis in Yemen carried out an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operation against Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel, on July 19 and declared Tel Aviv as an “unsafe zone”.
