Reaction from Hamas to Netanyahu

Hamas'tan Netanyahu'ya Tepki

Hamas made a written statement regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on remaining in the Philadelphi Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border. In the statement, referring to the news in the US press that Washington was preparing a new proposal for prisoner exchange and ceasefire, he said, “We do not need new proposals.” The expression was used.

The statement noted that Netanyahu does not want the Israeli army to continue to remain in the Philadelphi Corridor and reach an agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and exchange prisoners. Hamas stated that what needs to be done in this situation is to put pressure on Netanyahu and his government and emphasized that it is necessary to force them to comply with the agreements previously agreed upon.

The statement stated that Netanyahu’s aim is to prolong the war in the Gaza Strip, and added: “We warn against falling into the trap of Netanyahu and his games, who use negotiations to prolong the war against our people.” It was said. The day before, Netanyahu had reiterated that they would not withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border under the pretext of “preventing the smuggling of Israeli prisoners out of the Gaza Strip”.

Hamas stated that Netanyahu and his government were accused of not agreeing to an agreement by adding new articles to the existing offers in the ceasefire and prisoner exchange negotiations in Gaza. It was noted that Netanyahu was accused of sabotaging the ceasefire agreement both in Israel and in the international arena, due to the threat of his far-right coalition partners to overthrow the government if the attacks on Gaza stopped.

It was emphasized that the articles that Netanyahu added to the draft agreement and especially his insistence on maintaining control over the Philadelphi Corridor, the Egypt-Gaza border line, made the negotiations difficult. During this period, Israel’s violence in the Gaza Strip continues. The fact that the number of martyrs, mostly women and children, in Israel’s attacks on Gaza with the support of the USA has reached 41 thousand in more than 10 months reveals that the humanitarian crisis in the region is deepening day by day.
