According to The Sun newspaper, in a tragic incident that took place in the village of Siteba in South Sulawesi, 36-year-old Siriati left his home to get medicine for his sick child and never returned. His wife, Adiansya, was found by a giant python that tried to swallow Siriati’s head. Adiansya tried to kill the vicious snake but unfortunately she could not save Siriati. With the help of the villagers, Siriati’s body was brought home and buried in the village of Siteba the next morning.
The Walenrang Police Chief stated that Siriati’s body was not decomposed but her bones may have been crushed. It was also stated that a snakebite-like wound was found on Siriati’s leg.
Second Incident in the Last Month
Siriati is the second woman to die after being swallowed by pythons in the past 24 days. On June 9, the body of a 45-year-old woman was pulled from the stomach of a giant 5-meter python in the village of Kalempang in South Sulawesi.
