Palestinians Make a Living by Collecting Scraps in Gaza

Filistinliler, Gazze'deki Hurda Toplayarak Geçimlerini Sağlıyor

Palestinians living in the Khan Younis region in southern Gaza make their living by recycling scrap metal from homes destroyed or damaged by Israeli attacks. During the scrap collection process, Palestinians collect materials such as plastic and aluminum from the debris, process them, and resell them.

A Gazan resident says that scrap collectors buy plastics from the rubble by the kilo, turn them into products such as canisters and electrical cables, and sell them to earn income. He says that this process both contributes to recycling and provides economic support.

A Gazan who made a living by collecting scrap metal at a young age said that he collects scrap metal every day from 6 am to noon and walks 3-4 kilometers to sell the materials he collects for 5 shekels. He states that in this way he covers his own expenses and supports his family.
