Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN Security Council President for June, South Korea, and UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis, requesting urgent assistance. Mansour stressed the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, protecting the Palestinian people, and adhering to international rules, calling on the UN Security Council to take action.

Noting that at least 2,616 Palestinians have lost their lives since the UNSC decision to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, Mansour said Israel continues its attacks against the people in Gaza and commits atrocities. He also reported that more than 20,000 children are missing, detained or buried under rubble in Gaza, and approximately 17,000 children have been orphaned.

In his letter, Mansour also touched on the situation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, stating that Israel continues its attacks on civilian settlements, detentions and torture of children. Finally, he emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu promised to continue the genocide in Gaza and that the international community must put an end to this situation.
