In recent events, an unnamed Palestinian detained said they were detained by Israeli forces while waiting for aid trucks to arrive in the Gaza airport area. Approximately 15 Palestinians were held for several days and were subjected to an artillery attack by Israeli forces in the city of Rafah shortly after their release. Seven people were killed and many injured in the attack.
Stating that they were tortured during their captivity, the Palestinian said, “Israeli soldiers tortured us in various ways after detaining us. We were subjected to physical and psychological torture, we were humiliated. Our feet were stepped on, they urinated on us and humiliated us.”
The Israeli army has detained thousands of Palestinians in its attacks in Gaza. These captives include women, children, health workers and civil defense personnel. The captives are subjected to torture, insults and interrogations during their detention.
According to a report by the Prisoners and Releasees Committee of the Palestinian Prisoners Society and the Palestine Liberation Organization, at least 18 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons have lost their lives. Hamas said in a statement that Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons face hunger strikes, humiliation, abuse, medical neglect and murder.
