Following the March 31 local elections, the CHP’s emergence as the first party with 37.7 percent changed the balance in politics. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel attracted attention with the “normalization” talks he held with President Erdoğan. Bahçeli’s Oppressive Attitude
In an interview with Cansu Çamlıbel from T24, Özel stated that MHP leader Bahçeli displayed an attitude of “You are either mine or the black earth” towards Erdoğan. It became clear that this situation caused tension in the political atmosphere.
Erdogan’s Inconsistency
Özel emphasized that after Bahçeli’s “normalization” challenge, Erdoğan returned to his pre-March 31 position. However, the CHP leader stated that he could disband the People’s Alliance by supporting Erdoğan. However, he stated that this situation would not mean being a partner in the AK Party’s 22-year mistakes.
Özel’s Goal for Power
Özel stated that his party is moving towards the goal of power by being the first party and increasing its votes every month. He emphasized his determination towards power by stating that he is not adapting to the economic crisis and Erdoğan’s promises.
