Open Air Film Screenings Started in Istanbul Feriye!
Open-air film screenings were held in Feriye, Istanbul, to raise awareness of the genocide in Palestine, to develop empathy, and to facilitate the sharing of ideas. The screenings featured Palestinian director Kamal Aljafiri’s work, “A Fidai Film.” The film is about Israeli soldiers seizing the archive collection at the Palestine Research Center in Beirut during the military intervention in Lebanon in the summer of 1982.
Another screening was of Annemarie Jacir’s film “Wacib.” The film tells the story of Abu Shadi, a man in his 60s, and the difficulties he faces in trying to marry off his daughter according to Palestinian traditions. The open-air film screenings were free of charge and met with great interest.
In tomorrow’s screenings, director Maha Haj’s “Mediterranean Fire” and Mai Masri’s “3000 Nights” will meet the audience. The screenings, which will start at 19:30 in the evening, await cinema enthusiasts.
