The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly reacted to Israel’s targeting of the UNRWA school in Nusayrat on 6 July.
The statement condemned Israel’s targeting of a UNRWA-affiliated school, which is a continuation of the crime of genocide it committed in the Gaza Strip. The OIC statement included the following statements: “We demand an independent international investigation to investigate this and other crimes committed by Israel in Gaza and to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The OIC called on the international community to take responsibility for ending Israel’s attacks on civilians, displaced persons, hospitals, schools and places of worship. It also stressed the importance of delivering humanitarian and medical aid to the Gaza Strip.
It was reported that at least 16 Palestinians, mostly children and women, were killed and 50 were injured in the Israeli attack on the “Al-Jauni” school where civilians were displaced from the Nusayrat Camp were taking shelter. It was also reported that Israel has bombed 17 schools and refugee centers where Palestinians displaced from the Nusayrat Camp are staying since October 7.
