The murderous Israeli army has announced plans to launch an attack on parts of Al-Mawasi, which it claims is a “humanitarian zone”, further squeezing the more than 1 million Palestinians displaced in the Gaza Strip. This situation is considered as an effort to put pressure on the Palestinians here to emigrate once again.

The Israeli army, which has been continuing its attacks in Gaza since October 7, continues to direct the displaced Palestinians through forced migration. Israel, which has been constantly forcing Palestinians to migrate for more than 10 months, is currently planning to attack some parts of Al-Mawasi, where it claims to be “safe” and where displaced Gazans take shelter.

The Israeli administration has also included Al-Mavasi, where it is trying to imprison approximately 2.3 million Palestinians, on its target list. Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee shared a new map on social media and called for the evacuation of the regions to the east of the city of Deir el-Belah, as well as the El-Karara, El-Mevasi, Cela, Hamed and En- Nasr regions of Khan Yunus.

It was noteworthy that the map shared by Adraee also included some parts of Al-Mavasi, which Israel declared as a “humanitarian zone” and where more than 1 million displaced Palestinians took shelter. Adraee, who made various claims about the reasons for the “evacuation” decision, asked Palestinians in some regions on the map to emigrate.

“Evacuation” Decision Came During Negotiations in Doha

It is noteworthy that the Israeli army’s request to evacuate some areas in Al-Mawasi came during a period in which the prisoner exchange between the Tel Aviv administration and Hamas and the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza were ongoing in Doha, the capital of Qatar. It is not yet known how this “evacuation decision”, which forces Gazans to migrate again, will affect the ceasefire and prisoner exchange negotiations that started yesterday in Doha and will continue today.

Israel Claims Al-Mawasi Is “Safe”

The Israeli army continued the forced migration it started from the northern regions of Gaza on October 7 by attacking Khan Younis in the south and Rafah, where the most recently displaced Palestinians took shelter. During the attacks on Khan Younis and Rafah, Israel asked the Palestinians there to go to Al-Mavasi, which it claimed was “safe”.

Al-Mevasi, on the Mediterranean coast, located between Deir el-Belah, Khan Yunus and Rafah regions, is a region with no infrastructure and very little construction. Palestinians who escaped from Israeli attacks are desperately struggling to survive in makeshift tents here. The Palestinian Red Crescent states that there is not even a single tent left in Al-Mevasi due to the migration to the region after the land attack on Rafah.

Due to difficult conditions such as increasing temperature and water shortage, many Palestinians are trying to live in the rubble of their homes instead of going to Al-Mawasi.

Israel Uses Forced Migration as a Systematic Weapon in Gaza

Israel has been constantly forcing Palestinians living in Gaza to migrate with the “evacuation” orders it has issued since the attacks it launched on October 7. According to United Nations (UN) data, 9 out of every 10 people living in Gaza had to migrate due to Israeli attacks. Palestinians, scattered from place to place in Gaza, are having a hard time due to attacks, food shortages, as well as forced migration. According to the UN, the vast majority of Palestinians in Gaza were forced to migrate once a month.
