MSF worker Jacob Granger described the ongoing forced displacement of Gazans as “inhumane.” Granger emphasized that the displaced Gazans have no belongings and nowhere to go. “There is no place to set up tents. Overcrowding, severe water shortages and lack of basic sanitation are fueling the spread of disease. “We are not meeting the urgent needs,” he said.

Julie Faucon, MSF’s medical coordinator in the region, said they have seen a significant increase in skin diseases such as scabies due to the lack of hygiene products. “Under constant bombardment, people are forced to seek shelter in shrinking spaces, conditions are getting worse and diseases are spreading. “This mostly affects vulnerable individuals, such as children,” Faucon said.

Khamis Amir, an MSF worker in Gaza, said that he and his family had to dismantle the tent they were living in to move it, but they did not know where to go. This situation once again highlighted the difficult conditions that people in the region are living in.

According to a statement by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Israel issued 16 separate “evacuation” orders between July 1 and August 21. In addition, an estimated 213,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their homes between the beginning of August and August 16.
