Thousands of students have signed a petition presented by the National Union of Moroccan Students. The petition was submitted to the Moroccan Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdullatif al-Miravi. The students demand that the Ministry instruct the heads of universities and institutions to withdraw from normalization agreements with Israel and cancel all partnerships with the Zionist entity.
Students condemn Israel’s violent attacks on the Gaza Strip, stating that normalization with Israel is unacceptable and is met with dissatisfaction.
Morocco is among the Islamic countries where demonstrations and marches in support of Gaza are most intense. The normalization agreement, which envisages Morocco resuming diplomatic relations with Israel in exchange for recognition of its sovereignty over Western Sahara, was signed on December 10, 2020.
