According to information received from diplomatic sources, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Egyptian Foreign Minister AbdulatiOne of the main agenda items of the meeting is the meeting with the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-SisiThere will be preparations for the first High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (YDSK) meeting to be held during ‘s visit to Turkey.

The current status of approximately 20 agreements planned to be signed within the scope of YDSK will be evaluated. In addition, bilateral political, economic and cultural relations, as well as current developments in the region, will be discussed during the talks. Long-term cooperation opportunities in the fields of energy, health, tourism and defense industry will also be discussed.

Efforts are underway to increase the trade volume between the two countries from the current level of nearly $10 billion to $15 billion. Particular importance is given to relations with Egypt in the fields of culture, education and science; increasing cooperation between universities and joint projects in the fields of media and communication are also among the agenda items.

Evaluation of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

The main agenda items of the talks include developments in Gaza, the Palestinian issue and humanitarian aid to Gaza. In this context, developments in Libya, Sudan and Somalia are also expected to be discussed in detail.

Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit the El Arish and Rafah Border Gates and inspect the Egyptian Red Crescent’s logistics center regarding humanitarian aid sent from Turkey to Gaza. This visit is expected to be an important step towards increasing the effectiveness of humanitarian aid efforts.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Egypt on February 14 after a 12-year hiatus is considered an important turning point in bilateral relations.During the visit, a joint declaration was signed between the two countries stating that the YDSK would meet under the co-chairmanship of the Presidents.

During his visit, Minister Fidan is expected to hold his first official meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdulati, who took office at the beginning of July.
