According to information from ministry sources, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Turkish National Intelligence Organization Director Hakan Fidan met in the Laotian capital of Vientyan on the sidelines of the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting. The meeting took place in an environment where measures aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation between Turkey and Russia were discussed.
The statement noted that Lavrov and Fidan discussed current issues in bilateral relations and that issues of cooperation in the international arena, including multilateral platforms, were discussed.

Details of the Talks Between Russia and Türkiye
- Minister Fidan went to Vientyan to attend the Sixth Tripartite Meeting of the Turkey-ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partnership within the scope of the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting.
- During the meeting, bilateral relations, economic issues and cooperation in the field of energy were discussed.
- The foreign ministers of Russia and Turkey exchanged views on the war in Ukraine, developments in Gaza, the situation in Syria and other regional issues, as well as regional issues.
