Fire in Mersin at Midnight
A large fire broke out in the 25-acre area of waste materials located at the bottom of 32nd Street in the Gökçebelen Neighborhood of the Yenişehir district of Mersin at night. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but a rapid intervention was initiated as soon as the incident was noticed.
Many teams from the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department were dispatched to the scene to fight the fire.Fire crews fought the fire throughout the night and brought the flames under control. The fire continued its effects until the morning.
Fire Department Director Kemal Akşahin was actively present at the fire scene, directing teams and monitoring the situation on site. Municipality-owned construction equipment also supported firefighting efforts in the fire area. It is reported that cooling efforts are currently ongoing.
