According to the statement made by BTÜ, the “DeepWatcher Thermal Radar” developed with domestic resources enables early detection of forest fires and timely intervention. Thanks to this technology, fires can be prevented before they grow.

The project was developed within the scope of university-industry cooperation under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Haydar Ozkan, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Computer Engineering Department, BTU. Its mass production was carried out by Canvoate Group.

Using artificial intelligence, deep learning and advanced image analysis techniques, the system detects forest fires at an early stage, shortens the first response time and accelerates the control of fires.

Equipped with DeepWatcher Thermal Radar, infrared rays and a daytime camera, it can detect forest fires as they start. When a fire is detected, it can generate an alarm and transmit the location of the fire to the extinguishing teams, so that the teams can quickly direct to the correct location.

Prof. Dr. Haydar Özkan, who carried out the project, stated that they aimed to minimize the damage caused by forest fires to nature and people, and emphasized that the developed thermal radar is an important step in this field.

Özkan stated that thanks to the developed technology, early and effective intervention in forest fires will be ensured, and this will minimize the loss of life and property.

It was emphasized that forests will be safe with the widespread use of thermal radar developed as a result of BTÜ’s cooperation with Canvoate Group.
