In a statement made on the social media account of the Tunisian Presidency, it was announced that President Kays Said issued a declaration for the presidential election on Sunday, October 6. The last presidential election held every five years in Tunisia was held in October 2019, and Constitutional Law Professor Kays Said was elected President with over 70 percent of the votes in the second round of the election.

The process following the 2019 presidential elections in Tunisia was quite eventful. The extraordinary decision announced by Tunisian President Kais Said on July 25, 2021 to freeze the work of the Parliament and lift the immunity of the MPs caused the political and economic crisis in the country to deepen.
