There have been notable developments in the second-hand car market in Turkey recently. The increase in popularity of electric vehicles in particular has become one of the important factors affecting the market. Tesla’s sales of electric vehicles such as the Model Y in Turkey has increased activity in the second-hand car market.
For example, the prices of the 2023 rear-wheel drive Tesla Model Y are attracting great interest and this is causing high price increases on ad sites. In the ads, prices start from 2 million 50 thousand liras and can go up to 2 million 225 thousand liras. This shows how high the second-hand prices of the vehicles are, with the new versions selling for 1 million 791 thousand 451 liras.
These increases in second-hand car prices have also been caught by the attention of Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, who has made statements that they should be kept under control. In particular, it has been emphasized that second-hand car prices should not exceed new car prices.
Finally, the restrictions on second-hand vehicle sales, which require a 6-month or 6,000-kilometer mileage limit, have been extended once again. The aim of these restrictions is to protect consumers and create a healthier market for second-hand vehicle purchases.
