Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel and CHP Aydın Deputy Bülent Tezcan Inspected the Fire Zone
Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel, together with CHP Aydın Deputy Bülent Tezcan and municipality bureaucrats, inspected the forested areas damaged by the fire that broke out in Selçuk and Kuşadası. Mayor Günel stated that the fire was extinguished with timely and correct intervention before it could cause a bigger disaster, and said, “We will erase the traces of this disaster together.”
How Was the Fire Brought Under Control?
The fire that broke out in a forested area in the Pamucak area of Selçuk district of İzmir on Saturday quickly engulfed the entire region. Teams from surrounding provinces and districts, along with 118 vehicles and 500 personnel intervened in the fire by land, and 4 helicopters by air. The extinguishing efforts, supported by civil society organizations and volunteer citizens, were brought under control with the first light of the new day. A total of 350 hectares of land were damaged.

President Günel and MP Tezcan went to the forested areas damaged by the fire and inspected them. The team first went to the Arvalya Forest Camp in Selçuk and met with the teams contributing to the cooling efforts. Tezcan stated that more effective measures should be taken and said, “We must be more careful against forest fires.” President Günel said, “A major disaster was prevented with the timely and correct intervention in the fire. Now, together, we must revive these areas.”
