The event held at the Doha Embassy was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Doha Dr. Mustafa Göksu, Embassy Armed Forces Attaché Colonel Ali Çetin, Journalist Kemal Öztürk and Academic Prof. Dr. Kudret Bülbül, as well as Turkish citizens, diplomats, Qatari officials and foreigners living in Qatar. Dilek Yaşar and Veysel Yaşar, the parents of police officer Seher Yaşar, who was martyred in the attack on the Special Operations Directorate in Gölbaşı, Ankara on July 15, 2016, were also among the guests attending the event.

At the event where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s “July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day” message was read, a slide-video prepared by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications was watched and an exhibition of photographs taken by Anadolu Agency reporters on the night of July 15 was also visited.

At the event, Ambassador Göksu and Colonel Çetin, as well as Öztürk and Bülbül, made speeches regarding the treacherous coup attempt of the FETO terrorist organization.

  • The Embassy in Doha provided information to Qatari press organizations regarding the treacherous coup attempt on the occasion of “July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.”
  • Two panels were organized and a commemoration event was held at the Turkey-Qatar Combined Joint Force Command.

With the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Doha, the text “On the 15th of July Democracy and National Unity Day, the Turkish people will not forget the support of the Emir and the people of Qatar” was projected onto the Al Jaber Twin Towers, one of the symbolic towers of Qatar, and “The View Hospital”. The images also included photographs of President Erdoğan and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
