Nine people were injured in an accident that occurred at Üçyol Metro Station in Izmir Metro. The panic that occurred due to the malfunctioning escalator moving in the opposite direction frightened the citizens.
Passengers who got on the escalator to exit the station were shocked when the escalator suddenly started moving in the opposite direction. As a result of this situation, the cause of which has not yet been determined, 9 people were injured. Despite their minor injuries, the injured were taken to hospital and treated.
While medical teams arrived at the scene and administered the first aid to the injured, security measures were also increased at the subway station. It was reported that the escalator was closed to use after the accident and technical teams began an investigation.
