According to the news in Yediot Ahronot newspaper, the Israeli army refused to assign female officers to the armored corps due to the damage to some tanks in the war and the lack of ammunition. It is stated that the army admitted this situation in the Supreme Court.
It is reported that the Israeli army has requested that female officers serving in the armored corps receive training in exercises “where there are no enemy lines.”
The report, which reported that Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi postponed the exercises to include female soldiers in the armored corps until the end of 2025 due to tank and ammunition shortages, said, “The Israeli army admitted for the first time that it lost many tanks and had ammunition shortages in the Gaza war.”
It is emphasized that many of the Israeli army’s tanks were damaged in the Gaza war and are therefore unusable in combat or in exercises. It is also shared that new tanks are not expected to join the armored corps in the near future.
